As the daughter of an artist, I grew up surrounded by abundant creative energy and was involved in every kind of artistic endeavor since childhood. Raised in the lushness of the lowcountry landscape, I began my art training in high school and continued honing my skill all the way through graduate school. Initially,
I focused my talents in the field of Interior Design, specializing in faux finishes, murals and painted furniture. After I mastered painting on walls and chairs, I decided oil painting was my true passion. After that realization, I’ve never looked back...I concentrate my talents exclusively with oil on canvas.

Living in Charleston, SC,  I find immense inspiration in my surroundings. I paint in my home studio,
a small shack on Shem Creek, and where ever inspiration finds me. Mostly, my subject matter includes landscapes, still-life, wildlife and animal portraiture and occasional figurative works. When seeking and choosing my next composition, I rely on my inner voice that has been developed throughout years of practice and experience. I “know it when I see it” and I particularly look for beauty within the ordinary. Bold patterns of light and shadows, scintillating color harmonies and  interesting juxtapositions of varied shapes are some of the things that attract me to my subject matter.

I would best describe my work as representational, using loose brushwork and bold colors as I strive to capture a moment or a memory. Equally comfortable painting en plein air or within my sunny studio,
I consider my work successful if it evokes emotion from the viewer. I have been so fortunate to study under many talented artists including West Fraser, Kathleen Dunphy, and Scott Christiansen, to name a few. Learning from other artists enables me to stretch my artistic boundaries and continue to evolve as an artist.
